Baia's Tsitska,Tsolikauri - Baia's Wine
Bia's Wine 2022 | Tsitska, Tsilikauri | Georgia - Imereti | Medium, Amber, Dry | 13% | Cork, Wax | Low Intervention | Drink now
A clever blend of two indigenous Imeretian varieties Tsitska (30%) and Tsolikouri (70%) made by Baia Abuladze alongside her sister Gvantsa and brother Giorgi. Both varieties are high in acidity and low in sugar having adapted to the more humid western Georgian climate. All the grapes are estate grown in vineyards in the village of Obcha where they are hand-picked and hand sorted. After de-stemming, the wine is pressed and put into Churi (the Imeretian name for Qvevri) with skin contact and fermentation starts spontaneously.
Tasting Notes
This amber hued wine has notes of wild pear, green apple, hazelnuts and apricot. It has a medium to high acidity and light tannins on the palate with a honeycomb finish.
Food Pairing
Amazing wines made with love, passion and history. A tasteful and great experience. Georgian wines are some of the best and need more recognition because they are good and it's deserved.
Tried Georgian white wine from the relatively unknown "Baia's Wine".And what a blessing it was. The experience I encountered was joyful and second to none. Such a superb combination of palette, aroma and fragrance. It could easily compete with it's best French and Italian counterparts. No wonder, es popular legends had it, Georgian Wines were singled out by the almighty gods themselves. now it is a time for Georgian Wineries to conquer the world. In Vino Veritas.
Super educational evening @tasteofgeorgia.co.uk. So many new varieties to learn about amongst dry wine, sweet wine, Qvervi, oak - and over 8000 years of winemaking experience - brilliant!
