Baia's Krakhuna Blend - Baia's Wine
Baia's Wine 2022 | Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Krakhuna | Georgia - Imereti | Medium, White, Dry | 13% | Cork, Wax | Low Intervention | Drink now
A blend of three indigenous Imeretian varieties Krakhuna (20%), Tsitska (20%), and Tsolikouri (60%) made by the very talented young female winemaker Baia Abuladze. This is the most light and delicate of Baia's white/amber wines thanks to the Krakhuna variety. All three varieties have high acidity and have often traditionally been used for sparkling wine for their acid and mineral content. All the fruit is estate grown in the vineyards in the village of Obcha, hand-picked and hand sorted. After de-stemming the wine is pressed and put into Churi (the Imeretian name for Qvevri) with partial skins and fermentation starts spontaneously.
Tasting Notes
This light amber wine has aromas of sharron fruit, apricot and citrus, with honeycomb and sweet spice on the mid pallet with a long finish highlighted by low to moderate tannin.
Food Pairing
Amazing wines made with love, passion and history. A tasteful and great experience. Georgian wines are some of the best and need more recognition because they are good and it's deserved.
Tried Georgian white wine from the relatively unknown "Baia's Wine".And what a blessing it was. The experience I encountered was joyful and second to none. Such a superb combination of palette, aroma and fragrance. It could easily compete with it's best French and Italian counterparts. No wonder, es popular legends had it, Georgian Wines were singled out by the almighty gods themselves. now it is a time for Georgian Wineries to conquer the world. In Vino Veritas.
Super educational evening @tasteofgeorgia.co.uk. So many new varieties to learn about amongst dry wine, sweet wine, Qvervi, oak - and over 8000 years of winemaking experience - brilliant!
