Gvantsa's Aladasturi Rosé - Baia's Wine
This wine is made by young winemaker Gvantsa Abuladze using one of the 525 indigenous Georgian grape varieties found on Baia’s Wine estate in the village of Obcha. All red varietals grown in Imereti are high in acidity and lower in sugar due to the humidity of the region. Aladasturi Sapere is especially known for its inky dark colour. The grapes are handpicked, and hand sorted. After de-stemming the wine is pressed and put into qvevri, where fermentation starts spontaneously.
Tasting Notes
This dry, salmon-hued rosé has aromas of strawberry and raspberry, initially crisp and refreshing, the wine then softens to a smooth finish. Suggested pairing with: Khachapuri, Pkhali, Ajapsandali and desserts.
Food Pairing
Amazing wines made with love, passion and history. A tasteful and great experience. Georgian wines are some of the best and need more recognition because they are good and it's deserved.
Tried Georgian white wine from the relatively unknown "Baia's Wine".And what a blessing it was. The experience I encountered was joyful and second to none. Such a superb combination of palette, aroma and fragrance. It could easily compete with it's best French and Italian counterparts. No wonder, es popular legends had it, Georgian Wines were singled out by the almighty gods themselves. now it is a time for Georgian Wineries to conquer the world. In Vino Veritas.
Super educational evening @tasteofgeorgia.co.uk. So many new varieties to learn about amongst dry wine, sweet wine, Qvervi, oak - and over 8000 years of winemaking experience - brilliant!
