Saperavi Qvevri - Babaneuri Marani
Babaneuri Saperavi 2022 | Saperavi | Georgia - Kakheti | Full bodied, Red, Dry | 14.5% | Cork | Low Intervention | Vegan | Drink now or keep
Saperavi translates as “something to colour with,” or “to dye”; Saperavi is a very old Georgian variety and it is the most widely planted red grape in Georgia. It is a tenturier variety (i.e., it has red juice as well as red skins) that gives the wines an inky, often fully opaque colour.
This exceptional Saperavi made following to 8000 years of Kakhetian traditional method in Qvevri, where crushed grapes are placed in Qvevri with pips and stalks to enhance the natural flavours of the wine.
Tasting Notes
The wine has a dark fruit and peppery flavours and superb balanced and long lasting taste.
Food Pairing
Amazing wines made with love, passion and history. A tasteful and great experience. Georgian wines are some of the best and need more recognition because they are good and it's deserved.
Tried Georgian white wine from the relatively unknown "Baia's Wine".And what a blessing it was. The experience I encountered was joyful and second to none. Such a superb combination of palette, aroma and fragrance. It could easily compete with it's best French and Italian counterparts. No wonder, es popular legends had it, Georgian Wines were singled out by the almighty gods themselves. now it is a time for Georgian Wineries to conquer the world. In Vino Veritas.
Super educational evening @tasteofgeorgia.co.uk. So many new varieties to learn about amongst dry wine, sweet wine, Qvervi, oak - and over 8000 years of winemaking experience - brilliant!
